This work features the striking monument to Corrine Elliot Lawton in Savannah’s Bonaventure cemetery. Working with a homemade gesso mixture, Seidl embraces the inconsistencies of the material and imprints natural materials into the gesso while it is still setting, capturing the gesture of nature’s form using site-specific materials such as Spanish moss and palm fronds.
