A blank notecard featuring Sally Mayer Seidl’s original painting, Promenade. Form is implied through color and gestural line work, while exposed areas of underpainting and varying degrees of finish coexist on the same picture plane, resulting in a scene that contemplates a non-linear description of time. The warm tones of the underpainting give the impression that the figures are either materializing or dissolving–speaking to the transient nature of humanity. The setting of the work, Savannah’s iconic Forsyth Park–a man-made space in nature–is arrested in time and preserved, while the figures themselves come and go–alluding to the certainty of death as we cycle through nature.
